Profile Overview

Murcotts Driving Excellence, a wholly Australian owned and operated business, was established 37 years ago (in 1969) by Jim Murcott, motoring journalist.

Jim passionately believed that the excessive road trauma of the day could be reduced if drivers were given the right guidance and development beyond the limitations of the driver licensing system. In the years since, Murcotts has become Australia's leading driver management development and education company delivering quality researched based programs in all Australian states and internationally.

Murcotts has significantly influenced road safety culture in an area that Governments and Road Safety Authorities have neglected.

We believe our success reflects a willingness to continually review our approach to driver education and road safety. We adapt the latest research and best practice to ensure that the most effective programs are offered to the general public and corporate organisations.

One of the most important developments has been the incorporation of the BAAMS® Driver Profile, a driver insight assessment system. BAAMS® addresses the limitations of attitude change strategies in traditional road safety programs and incorporates the other human elements of motivation, awareness (insight) and skill, these being more important in improving driver behaviour.

Since 1969, Murcotts has offered effective and enjoyable safety solutions to drivers who wish to enhance their driving performance.

We are absolutely committed to young driver education and liaise with road traffic authorities and research organisations (both here and overseas) to assist in program development and structure.

A major component of Murcotts business is Fleet and Driver Management services designed to assist corporate clients to effectively manage their drivers. We train in excess of 15,000 drivers per year in this field alone and 80% of corporate Australia either use (or have used) Murcotts to conduct driver training programs for their staff. Murcotts programs are regularly conducted in all Australian capital cities and regional centres. International programs have been conducted in Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, New Zealand and the Philippines.
